Bailers
Product information, media, and
support guides
HEISLER Industries manufactures Bail-O-Matics to automatically form a wire handle from a spool, and insert it into a can to form a handle.
Commonly known as “The Bailer”, the Bail-O-Matic®, has been a workhorse for over 60 years. In the United States, the Bail-O-Matic is used to install about 95% of all bails put on paint cans and by most pail manufacturers as well.
Bailer Systems
SMALL CONTAINER
The HEISLER® 1 Gallon Bail-O-Matic comes in two models, the “D” and “DS”. These two models are able to insert metal handles on both metal and plastic cans with just the flip of a lever.
All of our Bailer models are designed to eliminate the repetitive motion of manually hand-bailing, and increase the speed of the bailing process.
HEISLER has also developed a Plastic Handle Bailer which can insert pre-formed plastic handles from sheets onto plastic cans at speeds up to 60 cans per minute.
LARGE CONTAINER
In addition to small containers, HEISLER also has models capable of bailing both metal and plastic containers ranging from 1 to 7 gallon at speeds up to 50 containers per minute.
These units will automatically form the handle with a grip attached, and insert the handle.
There are models for any speed and footprint, and for any container such as metal, round, square, rectangular, and oval.
EXCHANGE / REBUILD
PROGRAM
HEISLER offers two programs for Bailers to help the life cycle of your Bail-O-Matics.
Our exchange program is a system where we build you a new unit and have it installed, and request the old unit back after it’s completed so you are never without a machine.
The rebuild program consists of you sending your old bailer back to us for rebuild, and we will ship it back out once it’s completed.
Both systems are offered to allow you to get the latest upgrades and safety specifications without the cost of buying an entirely new Bail-O-Matic.

Plastic Handle Bailer
As the market has evolved with the introduction of the all plastic container and handle, HEISLER was already positioned to meet the challenge. We now offer a solution, the Plastic Handle Bailer Model “PA”.
Designed to be self contained, the machine can automatically attach handles onto plastic containers at an average speed of 60 per minute.
- Full PLC and HMI system included, along with servo wire feed
- Speeds up to 60 CPM
- Large hopper to store dozens of sheets of handles to automatically replenish itself during run time
- Explosion proof options available
- Available in many different layout configurations

Large Container Bailer
The Large Container Bailer has a height adjustable main plate that can accommodate equal width containers of varying heights, typically 2 ½ to 7 gallons. This machine can be set up to interlock upstream equipment for index feeding. This is particularly useful when feeding the machine directly from pail molding equipment. This machine is available in two models – metal with speeds up to 50 containers/minute and plastic with speeds up to 28 containers/minute.
- Adjustable for pails or buckets ranging from 1-7 gallon, as well as cans, totes, bins, and more
- Speeds up to 50 CPM
- Quick change tooling to run different containers
- Explosion proof options available
- Reject units available
- Able to be close-coupled with our Pail Upstacker to stack empty pails after bailing
Compact Bailer
Our Compact Bail-O-Matic is the newest addition to the Bail-O-Matic line. Similar in operation to our Large Container Bailer, it has a self contained footprint of just 26 square feet and can be manufactured to bail plastic or metal, round, square, rectangular or oval containers.
This machine comes in two models – metal with speeds up to 20 containers/minute and plastic with speeds up to 15 containers/minute. Because of its speed and size, the Compact “Bailer” is typically used after molding or decorating operations.
- Adjustable for pails or buckets ranging from 1-7 gallon, as well as cans, totes, bins, and more
- Speeds up to 20 CPM
- Quick change tooling to run different containers
- Explosion proof options available
- Reject units available
- Able to be close-coupled with our Pail Upstacker to stack empty pails after bailing
